![]() ![]() " I first read Terry Brooks when I was in Junior High. " Just like any other Terry Brooks master piece, this book delivers a great thrill. Didn't wow me but it was still an enjoyable read. " Nice opening to Brooks' four book epic fantasy. Amazing character development and imagination in the action sequences. " Great continuation of the shinnara saga. " Terry Brooks is amazing.the best one i've read yet.and i'm sure i'll be even more amazed with each book i read :) Shannara = Love! could have used a heavier editorial hand, but this did the job of light plane reading. " the character development is somewhat better than the original series, but there are some serious issues with the plot - like wasting hundreds of pages on whether or not the story will ever get started. " A set up for the rest of the series, it rehashes everything from the previous books and reads slightly formulaic. Yet Par Ohmsford still has some power of the Wishsong. To prevent this terrible fate, Allanon commands Par to recover the long-lost Sword of Shannara, a task that is next to impossible. For in the future, all life in the Four Lands will be destroyed. Cogline brings a message from Allanon: venture to the dread Hadeshorn, along with the other Scions of Shannara. When the story kicks off, three hundred years have passed since the events of Wishsong, which saw Allanon sending Paranor to another dimension and then our favorite Gandalf-the-Black is killed in combat. When he accidently brings a mythic horror to life, a man calling himself Cogline drives it away. Today’s review as one might expect is the first in the series: The Scions of Shannara. Yet Par still has some power of the Wishsong. Since the death of the Druid Allanon, the Four Lands have changed profoundly, with magic strictly forbidden in the Southland, now under totalitarian rule.
